Origin & processing

Our Chamomile flowers come from the mountains of Kumaon in Uttrakhand. These flowers grow in the wild under protected forest/reserve land. We source these through locals, who the forest department permits to harvest during seasons. Through this, we help locals earn extra income. We work with the same local families, thus maintaining a long-standing relationship and providing them with monetary assurance.
Since, these grow naturally during the season in reserve territory, they are unexposed to any chemicals or artificial inputs. Post harvest, flowers are dried using the traditional practice of shade-drying without the use of any industrial machine..

Health benefits

Chamomile tea, derived from the dried flowers of the chamomile plant (Matricaria chamomilla or Chamaemelum nobile), has been enjoyed for centuries for its pleasant taste and potential health benefits. Here are some of the key health benefits associated with chamomile tea:

  • Promotes Better Sleep: Chamomile tea is renowned for its mild sedative properties, primarily due to the presence of the flavonoid apigenin. Drinking chamomile tea before bedtime may help induce relaxation and improve sleep quality, making it a popular choice for those struggling with insomnia or sleep disturbances.
  • Reduces Anxiety and Stress: The calming effects of chamomile extend beyond sleep benefits. The tea has anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) properties, and regular consumption may help alleviate stress and promote a sense of calm.
  • Digestive Aid: Chamomile tea has traditionally been used to soothe digestive discomfort. It may help alleviate symptoms of indigestion, bloating, and gas. The tea's anti-inflammatory properties may contribute to a calm and settled stomach.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Effects: Chamomile contains anti-inflammatory compounds, such as chamazulene. Regular consumption of chamomile tea may help reduce inflammation in the body, which is associated with various chronic conditions.
  • Menstrual Pain Relief: Chamomile tea may provide relief from menstrual cramps and discomfort. Its muscle-relaxant properties may help ease tension in the uterus, alleviating menstrual pain.
  • Immune System Support: Chamomile tea contains antioxidants that may help support the immune system. Antioxidants play a crucial role in neutralizing free radicals and protecting the body from oxidative stress.
  • Respiratory Health: Inhaling the steam from chamomile tea may help alleviate symptoms of respiratory conditions such as colds and allergies. The anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties may contribute to respiratory comfort.
  • Skin Health: Chamomile tea can be used topically or consumed for potential benefits to the skin. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may soothe skin irritations and promote a healthy complexion.
  • Mood Enhancement: The mild sedative effects of chamomile may also have mood-enhancing benefits. A warm cup of chamomile tea may help reduce feelings of irritability and promote relaxation.
  • Cardiovascular Health: Some studies suggest that chamomile may have cardiovascular benefits, including potential effects on blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

It's important to note that while chamomile tea is generally considered safe for most people, individuals with allergies to plants in the Asteraceae family (such as ragweed) should exercise caution, as chamomile may trigger allergic reactions in some cases. As with any herbal remedy, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are pregnant, before incorporating chamomile tea into your routine.
