Origin & processing

Our stinging nettle comes from the mountains of Garwal & Kumaon in Uttrakhand. These flowers grow in the wild during winters and in high-altitude regions.
Fresh nettle commonly called bhichoo booti is frequently taken by locals in the form of sabji or sometimes is even mixed with flour to make chapatis.
This herb is known to have miraculous effects on sore muscles and aid recovery.
Nettle grows in the wild throughout the region, we work with local organizations that further work with a network of locals who gather, clean, and shade-dry these herbs.
Once dried, these lots are sent to our facilities where we do our quality check and cut/crush them according to their packaging.

Health benefits

Nettle tea, made from the leaves of the stinging nettle plant (Urtica dioica), is a popular herbal beverage known for its potential health benefits. Here are some of the key health benefits associated with nettle tea:

  • Rich in Nutrients: Nettle tea is a nutritional powerhouse, containing vitamins (such as A, C, and K), minerals (including iron, calcium, and magnesium), and antioxidants. These nutrients contribute to overall well-being and may help support various bodily functions.

  • Anti-Inflammatory Properties: Nettle tea has anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to compounds like flavonoids and carotenoids. Regular consumption may help reduce inflammation in the body, potentially alleviating symptoms of inflammatory conditions.

  • Allergy Relief: Nettle tea is known for its antihistamine properties, making it a popular choice for allergy relief. It may help alleviate symptoms of hay fever, such as sneezing, itching, and congestion.

  • Joint Pain and Arthritis: The anti-inflammatory effects of nettle tea may provide relief for joint pain and arthritis. Some studies suggest that nettle may help reduce pain and improve joint function in individuals with osteoarthritis.

  • Diuretic Properties: Nettle tea has diuretic effects, promoting the production of urine and potentially aiding in the removal of excess fluids from the body. This may be beneficial for individuals with mild fluid retention.

  • Blood Sugar Regulation: Some research suggests that nettle may help regulate blood sugar levels, making it potentially beneficial for individuals with diabetes. However, more studies are needed to fully understand these effects.

  • Supports Digestive Health: Nettle tea may have mild laxative effects, promoting bowel regularity. It may also help soothe digestive discomfort and alleviate symptoms of conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

  • Boosts Immune Function: The immune-boosting properties of nettle tea are attributed to its rich content of vitamins and antioxidants. Regular consumption may contribute to a stronger immune system, helping the body defend against infections.

  • Menstrual Health: Nettle tea is often used to address symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menstrual cramps. Its anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties may help alleviate bloating and discomfort.

  • Hair and Skin Health: The nutrients in nettle tea, including iron and vitamins, may contribute to healthier hair and skin. Some people use nettle tea topically or as a hair rinse to promote shinier hair and address scalp conditions.

  • May Support Prostate Health: There is some evidence to suggest that nettle may be beneficial for prostate health in men, potentially helping alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

It's important to note that individual responses to nettle tea may vary, and it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are pregnant, before incorporating nettle tea into your routine. Additionally, those taking medication should exercise caution, as nettle may interact with certain medications.

Thank you for introducing nettle in my life!!!

I had no idea about what nettle is, till I had it at a friends place. I really liked the taste and ordered it from Vannh randomly. Since then I have been regularly buying from them only.

    Leaf Tea

Your nettle tea tastes very nice and I have been able to get rid of my habit of having endless cups of coffee at work. I feel you should also start tea bags as they are more convenient for office goers.

    Nettle

I picked up a pack of Vannh Nettle Leaves from a store in Bir Billing, after hearing about the benefits of bichho booti from the locals. This infusion is very mild and I have been having it regularly. My body aches and inflammation has considerably reduced. The changes are subtle but certainly there.
